Our secondary school Explora is a very special place. Students gather in a setting that allows for learning in smaller groups and is a space of heartfelt presence. We are your school if you have struggled with the social, adacemic or emotional demands school has put on you so far. It is important that you are open to what we have to offer. As the name Explora suggests, our secondary school is all about exploring, about finding the joy in learning and about finding your own learning style. We are experts in helping young people discover their potential. What we offer is a healthy, clear learning environmnent in which you can set your sails for a succesful life, academically, emotionally and socially.

Each learner's group conisist of 10 students at the most. It is very important to us that each learner's group is a safe space. We don't tolearte any form of destrucitveness or bullying because we know that you cannot learn well in a destructive atmoshpere. We will help you finding a balance within your own emotional experience of life and will help you to focus your ideas in a way that they become helpful to you and your social and academic growth.

As soon as we feel you are ready to take on more responsibility you move from Explora to Responsia. This usually happens towards the end of your secondary school time. Here our credo is still clarity and warmth. Additionally to your continuous social and academic progress you now learn to take on responsibility for your own progress.

If you want to be part og Explora or Responsia the path forward is this: Your parents contact us. We then invite you to a "let's get to know each other talk" and then we find out whether we might be a match for you.

You can start your schooling time in Explora or Responsia at any time. The lessons are very individualised, because we never want any of our students to feel that they are behind. Your parents can therefor reach out to us at any time. In order for us to really get to know each other you would then spend a week or two with us, upon which it is usually quite clear whether we are the right place for you or not.

Both, Explora and Responsia are part of the compulsory school years. WayUp is a school that is recognised by the city of Basel. This means you can go to our school without your parents needing to worry about fulfilling the state's demands.
